1. INTRODUCTIONThe focus of this assignment is to discuss a social gathering or cultural ceremony and the impacts
which it has on my language usage in terms of daily existence. In this assignment the specific terms
and how the ceremony impacts language usage due to the social gathering or cultural ceremony.
Thereafter what is happening in each photo will be also discussed in length explaining the specific
aspects of the ceremony, the importance thereof what is happening in the photo and its reflection in
the culture or social group. I will be discussing my reflection of the assignment in terms of what I
learnt about myself and cultural group/ social gathering.
Lastly, I will be answering the following question about “What activities cultural/traditional/social
grouping?” “Why do we have this social gathering?", “What is the relationship between language,
tradition and culture?”, and “what is the impact of digital media on culture and social practices? And
finally “Does cultural/ traditional groupings evolve over time?”

2.1 BAPTISM AND ITS IMPACT ON MY LANGUAGE USAGE
Baptism is a special church service or religious ceremony experience by the Christian culture in South
African Culture, Baptism is derived from the Greek/Hebrew origins. The word was first created as a
Christian version of Tivila which is a similar process in Jewish communities.
