ETH302S EXAM PREPNOTE FROM PROF:
Yes I have noticed your letters & remarks on the group discussion forum? But
as mentioned on this forum that there is only one tutorial letter to be
studied & all the other tutorial letters are background information &
information necessary for you as a teacher to know about. E.g. Tutorial
letter 502 is a summary of the policy & you need to know about this policy
as a teacher & this policy should be in your class in a file to be able to
refer to it immediately. In front of a parent you need to know the content
of this policy & you cannot refer to this policy without knowing where to
find the necessary information to inform the parent about a policy
statement. This module is not only about the exams but to enable you to
support a learner who experience barriers to learning in the ECD phase (Your
phase of specialization). You have received tutorial letter 103 at the
beginning of the semester & should by now realized that the assignments
guidelines are in this tutorial letter. If you really sit down & start
studying this letter with the curriculum outlay in tut letter 501 open next
to you to follow the story line then you will not be confused. Then I am
repeating the content according the outcomes to be achieved with the content
of each tutorial letter again & again in each letter. In tutorial letter 501
you will find the orientation to this module, the curriculum outlay & a
glossary of terminology & a list of unacceptable terms not to be used. In
tutorial letter 501 is a summary of the policy. In 102 are a repetition of
the curriculum outlay therefore the content that you should know for the
exams & self-assessment criteria to self assess your own knowledge after you
have studied the content & need to know if you are ready to write the exams.
Then in tutorial letter 103 you will find the guidelines on how to answer
the assignment questions & a discussion or summary of all the content
according to the curriculum outlay in 501 - a repetition of the content
discussed during the group discussions. I think you should stop panicking -
it is clear that you do not know what this module is about - All the
information is summaries in this letter 103 & is based on content from your
prescribed book, the most recent education documents & policies. You should
understand the content of this module but remember that you cannot study
only this & that section or only focus on assignment or previous exam paper
questions because then you will be confused because you do not study with
insight. The content of this module is about understanding. I really hope
that you will now be one of hundreds of students who write me letters that
they do understand the content after they start working through it in
totality. Remember that you are on a university level & a university
student. Refer to the table in 501 were I have set out the governmental
requirements that you should adhere to as a university student. Look at the
requirements set for the ability to do research in various sources, to be
able to think critically, to be able to integrate relevant content from
various sources, to analize content. In tutorial letter I spoon feed & do
not adhere to these requirements at all - in a governmental audit this
tutorial letter 103 will be totally unacceptable.
But contact me again & discuss the content that you do not understand but
then I do want to know that you have studied the content.
