Twitch and Mixer websites
Purpose of both websites
Both “Twitch” and “Mixer” fall under the same category. They are a streaming platform’s that main
purpose is to provide entertainment on the internet to the viewers, by allowing other users, to
stream different kinds of content live. Both platforms have their own way to keep the streamer
(people who stream live) streaming and providing the content for the viewers. In simple terms the
bigger streamer’s viewership is, the more the he will get paid.
These websites are both 2.0. They are fully interactable and users can upload their content. Users
can also express their own opinions in the “Chat”. It allows them to interact with other users and
communicate with the streamer.
Target Audience
The main target audience from the start of “Twitch” was gamers. It was purposely designed from the
start too have features that would help gamers stream video games that they like. The age group for
the viewers and streamers are usually young adults. The average age of “Twitch” viewer is 21 years’
old and 81.5% of them are male.
Only in recent few years Twitch has become more open platform to other categories of streaming
such as: IRL streaming, art, music etc. By providing more categories on “Twitch”, it attracts allot of
new viewers and streamers.
Twitch
Requirements of the websites
Twitch has many different features that makes the website more user-friendly. The website layout is
closest in similarity with YouTube’s layout. The navigation bar with the search option is at the top of
the page, this gives new users a sense of familiarity, so the users won’t get lost. Because of this
layout, it makes the whole website easy to understand and use. The content that is displayed on this

website is mostly user-friendly, since the staff takes care of streams that breaks TOS (Terms of
Service) in some way.
Twitch website colour scheme and layout stays consistent through all its web pages. The main
content is not moved. The only thing that changes through all the web pages is the content
displayed in the middle.
The navigation in the website is straight forward. If you know a specific streamer that you’re looking
for you can just use search bar at the top to find it. New users can find streamers that they like by
using “Browse” option at the top of the page. It allows users to pick what kind of category stream
would be applicable for them to watch. After users choose the category stream they want to watch,
they can watch most popular streams displayed at the top or use filter option to find the streams
that meet their needs.

Twitch has one customisable feature that I really like and use it. This feature allows you to change
between “Light Theme” and “Dark Theme”.
This feature can be accessed by clicking on your account icon in the top right corner.
More and more websites, apps etc. add the feature that allows you to have “Dark Theme”. A lot of
people (including me) don’t like the “Light theme” because of how intense it is. It makes your eyes
feel tired and it is less pleasing to look at this type of theme. There are some people who like “Light
Theme” because it makes the website seem more uplifting.
