1. Description of the school am doing Practical.
Teaching practice is taking place at MAFIKA-DITSHIU Primary School in
QwaQwa, Eastern Free State. There is a village nearby called TSEKI
SEKGULTLONG. NTHABISENG Secondary School and TVET College are right
next to the school. Toilets are available for children and staff. The office building
has a storeroom, admin area, a staff meeting room, principal office, HOD office,
restrooms, and teacher office. There are two phases in school, the foundation
phase (grades R-3) and the intermediate phase (grades 4-7). There are three
grades alphabetically classified by letter (A, B, C) to ensure enough space in
each phase. The is a training ground for sports activities there is a parking area
just close to the entrance to the school. The total number of learners that have
enrolled in school is 565 learners. And the total of educators in school is 16
educators. Each teacher is responsible for their class. In the foundation phase,
the language of teaching is Sesotho. The second is English. In the intermediate
phase, the teaching language is English, but the home language instruction is
taught in Sesotho. The age group is between 6-15 years of age.
2. Description of classroom.
The classroom's desks and chairs sit in horizontal rows, with each student sitting at a
desk and chair. Also, the learners sit behind one another from the front and in front
from the back. Inside the classroom, we find posters relevant to the subject taught in
school. The chalk, duster textbook for every teacher for the specific subject teaching,
the blackboard is in all classroom. The classroom is children friendly and making it
easy for teacher and learners to perform their tasks. Enough space in class because
the movement of the educator is freely, and it can happen without any restriction.
Each class has an entrance door. This building has eight windows, four at a front
and four at aback, and these are adjacent to each other.
3. Description of learners.
I was responsible for the learners doing grades 5 and 6. They have three classes for
each class level. The classroom has 20 learners inside. In class, we had different
learners with different levels of readiness. Some learners who were willing to learn
and took part in the lesson were very active. Others were first looking bored and
didn't appear to be ready to learn. However, after engaging them through the
educational exercises, they start gaining interest and becoming involved in the
lesson presented. The learners come from different home some learners showed
