Assignment 1 Semester 2 2024
Detailed Solutions, References & Explanations
Unique number: 859093
Due Date: 16 August 2024
QUESTION 1 (3 ANSWERS PROVIDED)
The Unisa Social Security Movement (USSM) asserts that the right to have access to social
security is absolute and must be realized immediately, given its sensitive nature. However, this
interpretation is not consistent with the provisions of the South African Constitution, specifically
Section 27 and Section 36.
Section 27(1)(c) of the Constitution guarantees everyone the right to have access to social
security, including appropriate social assistance if they are unable to support themselves and
their dependents.
